StemWizz Vortex Experiment
Is that a tornado I see?
Create your very own vortex experiment by first building a frame with wooden parts and screws. Next attach and secure the stand that will hold the plastic container which will hold the fluid. Attach the motor to the stand and wire the motor to the battery box. Finally put some water into the plastic container and add the magnet.
Young people will learn that a vortex is a swirling mass of air or water that spins around a central axis. It is often characterized by a downward-spiraling motion and can occur in nature in many forms such as tornadoes, whirlpools, weather systems and even galaxies. The essence of a vortex is that objects are drawn together toward the center, then miss! Spiral waves form in the water surface of the vortex.
The main parts in this STEM project combines a mixture of:
- Wooden Frame Frame Parts
- DC Motor
- Wiring
- Battery Box
- Screws
- Magnet
- Plastic Stand
- Plastic Container
